Byrd Street Parking Deck

VCEParkingDeck450h.jpgConstruction of a new parking deck in the historic Kanawha Canal District of Richmond required practical and innovative solutions. The deck was to be constructed over unsuitable fill used to bury the old abandoned Canal. Standard footing designs could not be utilized and expensive deep piling systems were cost prohibitive and would significantly delay the completion schedule.  Cost effective expansive spread footings was the solution suggested and utilized by the design team,  consultants and contractor. Leading the team of Consultants and Contractors as an employee of the Federal Reserve Bank, Vannoy completed the project significantly ahead of schedule and under-budget.
